What It Feels Like To Have a Stroke (And More About Your Brain)

From the TedTalks conference. Fascinating talk. Here’s a summary that introduces the clip below …

“Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened — as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding — she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.” Added to our YouTube playlist.

I get what you are saying about the diezinzss. I had a similar experience during my first MS episode a few months back. My vertigo permeated every expereince. It hurt just to stand up. I was afraid to sleep. Now I’ll be annoying Have you been to the doctor? Are you taking anything to get rid of that feeling? I tried all the usual vertigo stuff but nothing helped. When I got my diagnoses they put me on Prednisone and that finally reduced the swelling in my head enough for the vertigo to work its way out. I hope you feel better soon. Constant diziness is awful.

Hi Amy,I have not read Dr. Taylor’s book yet. It should go on my to-do list one of these days. Keeping up with our own blogs, rdnieag the blogs of others, interacting with others on our blogs and theirs, while thinking and writing our own thoughts and projects takes a considerable amount of it. The benefit of Bloglines I am alerted to posts of my favorites when they are up. I couldn’t keep track of things otherwise.
