It's even funnier when juxtaposed with Trump's real speech...

Like so many, I deliberately avoided the real Trump speech about the “emergency”. I did see this Baldwin send up and thought it funny, a lampoon. Then I saw clips from the real speech: they were the same!! The ranting, the phrases, the confusion, the bragging, the hostility to the press. All there. I was flabbergasted. Baldwin doesn’t even need comic script writers to do Trump any longer. He has Trump!

You keep crying and Trump keeps winning!

  • Give Me a Break says:

Big win! He got denied by Congress–after making nearly a million government workers go without pay for a month. So then he invents to a crisis that will likely get bogged down in the courts. And it will likely get bogged down because he stupidly admitted that it is a trumped up crisis.

Americans want the wall. It will be done

  • Chris says:

Russians want a wall too, they are enjoying all this winning with their puppet president.

  • Lonnie says:

The Russian puppet dialogue is a scare tactic used by those who have nothing in the way of facts.
The economy is high, crime is down. All of the mass shootings and police shootings that dominated the news during Obama’s 8 years is almost unheard of. Just sit back and enjoy Trump’s accomplishments instead of trying to scare everyone with false doomsday predictions.

  • Alan says:

I agree that “All of the mass shootings and police shootings that dominated the news during Obama’s 8 years is (sic) almost unheard of”.

It’s a shame that the President’s antics continue to suck up all the attention because they are so outrageous. Mass shootings happen but are forced off the headlines.

  • Lonnie says:

Yes, it’s a shame the media can’t do their job and report the news like they should instead of focusing on getting back at the president for calling them out. News shouldn’t be biased.

  • Anon says:

At one point, Dems were prepared to offer $25 billion for border security in exchange for a permanent solution for DACA. I’d call that caving, but whatever.

Republicans themselves torpedoed the deal, packing a meeting on immigration policy with hardliners to make sure Trump didn’t budge on their agenda (this was the meeting at which Trump referred to “shithole countries”).

Fast-forward a few months, and Trump “proudly” shuts the government down for thirty-five days after demanding $5.7 billion (a far cry from the $25 billion he could have had earlier). A month later, he caved, and will get $1.37 billion, which was the same deal he was offered before the shutdown, meaning that the shutdown which cost billions and made a measurable dent in economic growth was all for exactly nothing.

Yeah, “winning.” But while it’s hardly winning, it *is* a stellar example of his (lack of) deal-making skills, the same ones that caused him to go bankrupt trying to sell Americans gambling, steak, booze, and football (seriously, how does someone even do that???).

P.S. A majority of Americans oppose the wall, and 70% say there is no national emergency over his failure to achieve anything during the two years he had a fully Republican Congress.

  • Lonnie says:

I’m not sure where you are getting your info but it is not correct. Trump offered a solution to DACA but the dems never offered $25 billion for border security! Lmao.

And yes, majority of Americans support the wall. You must have gotten your #s at the same place that said Hillary would win the presidency by a landslide! 😂
