Neil deGrasse Tyson Puts Bill Gates’ Wealth into Funny Perspective

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has a way of putting things into perspective. Usually he’s looking at where we — our planet, our civilization — sit in relationship to the larger cosmos. But, in this clip recorded at the University of Washington in 2011, he’s helping us wrap our head around something equally unfathomable and seemingly infinite: Bill Gates’ big pile of money.

  • Dave Beitz says:

Neil used a net worth of $278,000 for his math.

    Neil deGrasse Tyson for president.

  • Gloria Chen says:

Maybe he is not comparing his net worth, but rather his yearly income. Not apple to apple and not all that truthful.

  • Stuffed Bear says:

Funny that Neil, spoke of this, because yesterday I was walking down the street, and I was following Bill, and Malinda, when an armored truck went around a corner, the back door flew open and a bag of money flew out.

Malinda picked up the bag, looked inside then tossed it to Bill, he looked into it, then stopped, turned around and tossed it to me, because it was full of 50 dollar bills, and it just wasn’t worth carrying.
