Crime writer Dominick Dunne passed yesÂterÂday today at 83, his death overÂshadÂowed by that of Ted Kennedy. Above, we feaÂture Dunne rememÂberÂing his rather unpleasÂant relaÂtionÂship with Frank SinaÂtra. It’s a perÂverse stoÂry, though told in a someÂwhat humorÂous way.
IniÂtialÂly, I conÂsidÂered feaÂturÂing anothÂer video, but it’s entireÂly too sad, espeÂcialÂly for any parÂents among us. Back in 1982, DunÂne’s daughÂter, an actress, was stranÂgled to death by her boyfriend. And, in this clip, Dunne reflects on his relaÂtionÂship with his daughÂter. A heartÂbreakÂing bit.
As a side note, Dunne kept a diary durÂing the triÂal of his daughÂter’s murÂderÂer. The account was evenÂtuÂalÂly pubÂlished in VanÂiÂty Fair, and you can find it here, along with many othÂer major pieces that Dunne wrote for VF. AmazÂingÂly, the murÂderÂer was conÂvictÂed and served less than 4 years. MeanÂwhile, milÂlions who have pedÂdled small amounts of drugs are doing conÂsidÂerÂably more time across the US.

It will also proÂvide access to thouÂsands of free (pubÂlic domain)
