Arthur Schlesinger Jr — Remembered in Video

America lost last night one of its most prominent historians. A former Harvard University professor, Arthur Schlesinger Jr. was awarded the Pulitzer Prize twice and wrote authoritative histories of Andrew Jackson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Also rather unusually for a historian, he ran in elite political circles. Indeed he served in JFK’s White House and had a close relationship with Robert Kennedy. You can read the full New York Times obit here. Below you can also revisit an interview with Charlie Rose where the historian talks a good deal about his life and memoir. (PS. Here is Arthur Schlesinger appearing on Fresh Air in 2002 and talking about the Cuban Missile Crisis, something that he wrote a lot about.)
