Jane Goodall, the revered conÂserÂvaÂtionÂist, passed away today at age 91. In her honÂor, we’re feaÂturÂing above a NationÂal GeoÂgraphÂic docÂuÂmenÂtary called Jane. DirectÂed by Brett MorÂgen, the film draws “from over 100 hours of nevÂer-before-seen footage that has been tucked away in the NationÂal GeoÂgraphÂic archives for over 50 years.” The docÂuÂmenÂtary offers an intiÂmate porÂtrait of Goodall and her chimÂpanzee research that “chalÂlenged the male-domÂiÂnatÂed sciÂenÂtifÂic conÂsenÂsus of her time and revÂoÂluÂtionÂized our underÂstandÂing of the natÂurÂal world.” It’s set to an orchesÂtral score by comÂposÂer Philip Glass.
