Between 1982 and 2002, direcÂtor GodÂfrey RegÂgio shot his well known QatÂsi trilÂoÂgy — KoyÂaanisqatÂsi, PowaqqatÂsi, and NaqoyqatÂsi. SomeÂwhere between the 2nd and 3rd installÂment, RegÂgio took a litÂtle detour and directÂed a short eight minute film called EviÂdence. The main charÂacÂters? Kids watchÂing carÂtoons (DumÂbo, actuÂalÂly) and lookÂing “drugged,” “like the patients of a menÂtal hosÂpiÂtal,” he writes on his web site.
The vilÂlain? “TeleÂviÂsion techÂnolÂoÂgy,” which “is eatÂing the subÂjects who sit before its gaze.” The weapon? TeleÂviÂsion again. That “radiÂaÂtion gun aimed at the viewÂer” “holds its subÂjects in total conÂtrol.” A litÂtle house of horÂrors, to be sure. We have added KoyÂaanisqatÂsi (feaÂturÂing the music of Philip Glass) and EviÂdence to our colÂlecÂtion of Free Movies Online.
